Winter in Wolfeboro

Wolfeboro Town Docks

Wolfeboro is an amazing and popular summer vacation destination. But did you know it is also an amazing place to visit in the winter? Years ago Wolfeboro would close up in the winter, but those days are long gone. The pace in winter is slower and there is room to breathe. As a year round resident of Wolfeboro and lover of winter I'd like to share my local's guide to what to do in Wolfeboro in the winter.

  • The Bridge Falls Path is a great trail for winter recreation. Put on snowshoes if the snow is deep, or if not. warm boots will do, and walk. The path is dog-friendly so having your pups with you will a fun time in the show.

  • A cross country ski trail is groomed and maintained. It is community-run, family-friendly, affordable, and beautiful cross-country skiing. Get a trail pass and rental gear at Nordic Skier in downtown Wolfeboro. Get current tail conditions here.

  • Downhill skiing at Wolfeoboro's oldest smallest ski area at Abenaki This is a family friendly very small ski area which is fun for everyone.

  • Snowmobile on the lake or local trails. Click here for NH snowmobile corridors.

  • Downhill skiing and tubing at Gunstock which is just a thirty minute drive from Wolfeboro.

  • Restaurants are open year round in town which is fantastic. Here is the Chamber's Restaurant Directory (some on the Chamber list are summer only, but not many)

  • For those that love to shop there are many shops downtown. Click here for the Chamber's Shopping Directory.

Wolfeboro has everything one needs for a get-away: lodging, shops, recreation, restaurants, grocery stores, State liquor store, pharmacies, hospital, gas stations, and convenience stores. Once you get to town, you really don't have to leave. We call it our bubble. It is a gem of a small town. Not only beautiful, it provides all of modern amenities year round.

So consider getting out of your bubble and coming up to the Wolfeboro bubble for fresh air, friendly service at local restaurants, and outdoor recreation.
